Once a poet, always a songwriter, forever a dreamer…
For over 20 years, Tom has been touching hearts of people with his brand of melodic music, laced with catchy hooks and lyrics about, in his own words; “love, life and hope… music for me has always been about escape and that’s what I wanna do to people that hear it – get ’em lost in melody. If I can touch one person with what I do, my job is done. Hopefully people find universal truths in my songs”.
Described by acclaimed writer Alex Wheatle as “one of the best songwriters this country has produced” and having countless plays on Dennis Bovell’s Dub On Air Radio show, Tom continues to write his own material in between collaborations with his beats driven project, Tranquilo Tempo, Geraldine Reid and Leonna Millwood.
Tom’s influences are endless, from Oasis to Bob Marley, to the perfectly crafted songs of Motown and particularly “the world behind his eyes”… elements of all the greats that have come before can be heard in his songs. As he says, “I’m not ashamed to wear my influences on my sleeve, or more accurately my records”
During lockdown, Tom began experimenting with sounds he hadn’t previously. The concepts of nature, silence, the sounds of London to name a few. These led to the Kaleidoscope EP’s.
Now, in 2024, Cascade, a shimmering song full of hope and the joys of falling in love, is due for release on 31st May!
